STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

This week, iMECK Academy would like to introduce you to a Sensational Sophomore that has been in view for 5 weeks now. Serving as co-anchor on Great Day CCA, Richard Workman has become the face of iMECK. While Richard is not a Lifetime Colt, he joined our magnet program and instantly found ways to get involved. Richard's infectious smile and radiant personality make him a favorite among students and staff alike. Being a part of the iMECK community truly is a personal experience for Richard and his family, as they have attended almost EVERY single evening event sponsored by our school!
Thank you, Richard, for making iMECK Academy your home away from home. We appreciate the time, effort & energy invested into our program. Please text Ms Bauguss at (704)269-8684 to arrange a pick up time to claim your prize!

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

Teaching at iMeck is truly PERSONAL for Ms. Dozier and we are so fortunate to have her call iMeck home.
This week, we would like to highlight Ms. Jasmine Dozier, one of iMeck's Social Studies teachers. She is one of the most dedicated, inspiring and genuine educators you will ever meet! Ms Dozier is a definite favorite among students and staff. Her ability to "keep it real," during this uncertain time brings a sense of calm to even the rowdiest of storms.
In addition to her success with students in the classroom, Ms. Dozier does some of her most passionate work outside of the normal school day. She pours countless hours into the senior activities team, planning extracurricular events rooted in culture and good, old fashioned teenage fun! Ms Dozier spent the summer encouraging students working in our Summer School program. As a result of her efforts, over 26 credits were earned during the summer!
Ms Dozier inspires students to express themselves through spoken word and hosts several Culture Slams throughout the school year. Be on the lookout for the announcement of iMECK's first Slam of the year. Be sure to follow Ms Dozier on Instagram at dozier_enlightened.

The HEART of iMECK:
Culture of Caring
"If I thought about it, I could be bitter, but I don't feel like being bitter. Being bitter makes you immobile, and there's too much that I still want to do." ~ Richard Pryor
"Working as an inclusion teacher affords me many opportunities as an educator. Within this first month of school, I have witnessed some phenomenal work from my peers. Many of us have needed encouragement. Please know that your work does not go unseen and your efforts are not in vain. This week, I would specifically like to recognize the co-teachers with whom I am paired."
Mr. Caruso/Mr. Newburn/ Mrs. Rowe - Thank you for your much-needed splash of diversity and thank you for not attempting too hard to assimilate to the culture of the students. They appreciate teachers that are genuine to who they are at heart. These students have existed in a homogeneous world and very much needed to see your faces, experience your norms, and develop relationships with you before they leave the Plaza and Milton Rd.
Ms. DuPont - Welcome to iMECK. You have blended in seamlessly, almost as if you have been here for years. Your module organization is absolute. This gives the student some routine to the chaotic “Corona” world that they are experiencing. Your blunt honesty is refreshing. The world will not sugar coat and neither should we. Thank you for the motivational slides that include (Humpday, Friday Eve, and FriYay, Afrolicious, Frolicious Friday!) are now a part of my regular repertoire.
~Brandy Jackson, EC Department Chair

Driver's Ed

Students can sign up for Drivers Education beginning Monday, August 31, 2020 via Jordan Driving School.
Jordan Driving School, Charlotte teaches Driver Education safety to students who are at least 14 ½ years old, and who are actively enrolled in a public, private, charter, or licensed home school within Mecklenburg County. Students who attend school outside Mecklenburg County are ineligible to take Driver Education through Jordan Driving School Charlotte and will need to contact the closest public school to the school they attend to inquire about the Driver Education program for that county. Residency in Mecklenburg County does not determine Driver Education eligibility; where the student attends school is the determining factor. Jordan Driving School, Charlotte does not teach private lessons or adult students.
Beginning in August all classes are virtual. If you are interested in taking Drivers Ed you can register online. Payment for your classes can be collected at registration or at...
