Updated: Feb 5, 2021

February is CTE Month

Every February, the CTE community celebrates CTE Month® to raise awareness of the role that CTE has in readying our students for careers and college. Led by a variety of CTE groups and spearheaded by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the month is organized around a different theme each year.

In CMS CTE offers you a pathway to that promotes a head start for High School students. Whether you’re interested in architecture or automobiles, cosmetology or computers – there’s a pathway that will allow you to acquire deep career knowledge, gain industry-recognized certifications and test-drive your career in a summer internship.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

Teaching at iMeck is truly PERSONAL for Mrs Monroe and we are so happy she is a part of our iMeck family!

Congratulations to this week's teacher Spotlight, Ms. Kimberly Monroe. Ms. Monroe is The Business Pathway Teacher at iMeck.

Since starting at Cochrane in 2014 Ms. Monroe has proven herself to be a faithful member of the CCA family. Ms. Monroe started at Cochrane in the front office and later joined the iMeck team as a Business teacher. Since becoming a part of our family, she continues to be a valuable resource to both Cochrane and iMeck students.

Ms. Monroe, also known as Coach Monroe to the CCA Cheerleading Squad and Colts Track Team, has been essential to the success of all Cochrane sports. Through her leadership the CCA Colts Track Team has earned a championships in our conference.

In the classroom, Ms. Monroe creates a comfortable environment in which she delivers the CTE Business Ed curriculum. She is very thoughtful and compassionate when it comes to her students. Recently, Ms. Monroe received recognition by school leadership due to her ability to deliver lessons in an online setting.

While many teachers received a course shell for Canvas Learning, Ms. Monroe was tasked with creating her own course shell. A canvas course, whose design has proven to be easy for students to follow and find succeess.

Finally, Ms. Monroe has recently stepped up to fill the gap for a student who needed some unique academic support. This act speaks to the spirit of iMeck and highlights the dedication to students Ms Monroe has.
