iMeck Newsletter February 20, 2021

Updated: Feb 21, 2021

February is CTE Month

Every February, the CTE community celebrates CTE Month® to raise awareness of the role that CTE has in preparing our students for careers and college. Led by a variety of CTE groups and spearheaded by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the month is organized around a different theme each year.

In CMS CTE offers you a pathway to that promotes a head start for High School students. Whether you’re interested in architecture or automobiles, cosmetology or computers – there’s a pathway that will allow you to acquire deep career knowledge, gain industry-recognized certifications and test-drive your career in a summer internship.

As registration begins at iMeck we want to make sure that you are aware of all of our CTE offerings here at iMeck. In this Newsletter you will learn about new opportunities in our CTE Department. So when registration rolls around, you will have the opportunity to customize your own CTE experience here at iMeck.

Stay tuned to @imeckcdc for CTE Month Activities.

GET INVOLVED

WHAT IS CTE?

CTE pathways cover a blend of early career discovery and skill development through hands-on courses. Discover your interests, unleash your talents, and soar into your future with a clear and bright direction. CMS offers 23 pathways in CTE to help equip students with the 21st century skills needed for a global economy. You are the future workforce and we are here to guide you along that journey!

For the past

2 years iMeck has focused on 3 pathways in our CTE department. As we begin registration season we are pleased to share that 2 of our pathways will branch off under the Perkins V Act. As a result iMeck will now have the option to choose from 1 of 5 pathways.

Get to know our new pathways:

Business

Business Management Pathway

This pathway gives you meaningful instruction for and about business, finance and management. You develop employer-required soft skills including collaboration, computational and critical thinking, economic literacy, entrepreneurial skills, and problem-solving.

Marketing

Digital Marketing Pathway

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) has created this course due to demand in the industry for marketing students who have conceptual knowledge and technical skills in digital marketing. Digital marketing is an industry worth over $100+ billion a year in the U.S. alone and climbing. Simply put, students who don’t have access to learning these skills are at a serious disadvantage to their peers who do. This pathway seeks to fill that void by exposing students to the basic principles, strategy, career opportunities, and technical skills necessary to compete in the marketplace.

Customer Relationship Management Pathway

Students in the CRM pathway are being prepared to enter either college or begin their career equipped with high demand marketing skills. By participating and following the CRM pathway, a student will have the opportunity to sit for the Salesforce Administration certification. Students in this pathway will be a part of a program unlike any other as this is the only CRM high school curriculum in the country.

Graphic Digital Design

Graphic Diigital Design Pathway

A sequence of courses and the use of Adobe Creative Cloud software helps you develop skills in video and image manipulation, web development and visual communication. You develop logos and magazine layouts to help prepare you for Adobe certifications and a career in graphic art and design.

App Development & Web Design

You gain a deep understanding of design through exposure of basic application and website development. Students progress through a sequence of courses focused on audio, video, and graphic design techniques, as well as HTML5 and CSS concepts.
