As Career Month Draws to a close, iMeck's Freshmen and Sophomores will gear up to participate in Career Discovery Day. Charlotte Career Discovery Day (CCDD), is where more than 100 local businesses and universities will share hands-on experiences with 2,000+ students in a highly engaging, interactive event.

Things to know:

Cost- $7+ for lunch

Participant list- https://goo.gl/qAEeq6 Attire- Comfortable Business Casual (Please see ex. to the left.)

  • Must be in School dress code.

  • No Jeans

  • No Tight Fitting or Holes in clothes.

Flats are strongly recommended

The iGOALS Roundtable Series Is Back!

On Monday students interested in careers in Education and Training had a powerful dialogue with Mia Pumo, Constuctive Learning Design and Erika Shorty, Charlotte Works about navigating a Career in Education and Training.


PIZZA FOR MAPS


As apart of this months Career Month Activities, students were offered the opportunity to participate in a Career Mapping Activity. According to hkedcity.net...

"Career mapping is meant to help you find out WHERE to start, pause to brainstorm and move on with confidence, especially in times when you feel puzzled."

Students who participated ended their day with Pizza as a reward for participating in the Career Mapping activity. This week Seniors will focus on creating Action Plans to complete the Career Development Process.


DIGGING DEEPER

Last week students who are still undecided about their Career Cluster participated in the True Colors Career Exploration Activity. However, this week Seniors from Mr. Foels and Ms. Doziers homeroom, participated in the Digging Deeper Activty which is Part 2 to True Colors. In this activity, Seniors were able to create an Action Plan for after graduation. This proved to be very helpful for Seniors facing graduation.

ODE TO CAREER MONTH

Career Month has proven to be a month of exploration for students at CCA. From True Colors, The ASVAB, Boys 2 Men, Career Month, School wide student Interest Survey to our special segment on the Morning Announcements.

Cochrane students have has the opportunity to Self Reflect, Self Assess and students are beginning to make Personal Commitments so that they can begin to develop a Road Map and Actions Plan and ultimately take action on their Career Plans. This week we will navigate into the planning portion of Career Development. Check out our students who can boldly say that they know that they want to do after graduation, and they are ready to start planning.

Mapping Out Your Future with Naviance



Did you know? That students can be licensed in a prior to graduating High School. Career and College Promise (CCP) gives North Carolina high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get a "jump start" and earn college credit toward a two-year or four-year degree while still in high school. Students are dually enrolled in their high school and at Central Piedmont Community College, allowing them to receive both high school and college credit for courses taken through the program. Best of all, CCP classes are tuition-free during the fall, spring and summer semesters. (Non-CMS students are responsible for student fees and insurance fees).
